Beginning at Pokhara, your journey will continue through suburbs of Pokhara and Mustang. The terraced hills, forests, remote villages and the cultural heritages of the people are characteristics of Annapurna circuit trek.
The most difficult section of the Annapurna circuit trek is the high mountain pass at the The Thorang La pass lies at an altitude of 5416 meters. Thorang-La forms an integral part of the Annapurna circuit trek and the trek won’t be complete without the pass coming into picture. You will get to see the beautiful landscape and the majestic summits of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Rich in cultural and geographical diversity, the Annapurna circuit trek has a lot to offer. From the Rhododendron forests at Ghorepani and the mountainous beauty of Jomsom to the holy Muktinath temple and the rural lifestyle of people in the Gurung village of Ghandruk the opportunities for a respite in the laps of nature and culture are endless. Other attractions of Annapurna circuit trek are the Kali Gandaki valley, views of the high altitude semi deserted Tibetan plateau etc.
Altitude sickness is a problem faced by many during Annapurna circuit trek. Therefore, one should be very careful regarding their health and if they start showing any signs of altitude sickness, they should immediately descend. If conditions start to worsen, immediate evacuation is necessary. Generally acute mountain sickness or AMS starts after crossing 3000 meters at a very rapid pace. If care isn’t taken, the victim can develop serious symptoms due to the increasing altitude.
Before embarking on Annapurna circuit trek, we advise our clients to be fully prepared in case they get stricken with altitude sickness. We suggest to take Diamox about 24 hours before the climb. We focus on acclimatization and therefore, our programs are planned in a way so as to adapt well with the environment.
