Annapurna Sanctuary Trekking is a popular trek conducted in the Annapurna region. The essence of this trek lies in the fact that it offers exceptional views of the prime peaks of the Annapurna range like Annapurna, Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Machhapuchhre. These are arranged in an almost perfect circle of 10 miles diameter and consisting of deep glacier at the center. This glacier basin is specifically known as the Annapurna Sanctuary. From here, the Modi Khola carves its way towards the south to form a narrow gorge about 12,000 ft deep. Extending southwards, it opens up into a valley inhabited by the Gurungs. Modi Khola’s middle and upper sections are popular routes for short treks and the valley’s landscape makes it possible to extend this trek further to the Kali Gandaki region. Other significant places covered by this trek are Birethanti water fall, Ghorepani-Poon Hill, Ghandruk Village, Annapurna base camp, Hot Sprint, Chhumrung village and Dhampus village etc.
