This trek is among the popular treks in the Everest Region. Although being physically demanding and a bit strenuous trek as compared to other mid range treks in the region, the Gokyo Cho La Pass EBC trek offers an unrivaled experience. You will also summit the beautiful Gokyo Peak. From the peak, you can see views of Cho Oyu, Makalu, Mt. Everest and some other mountains in that range.

The trek is the best way to get acquainted with the Sherpa culture and meet the Sherpa people on the foothill of the Mount Everest. You will travel the path through Dudh Koshi to its source in the Himalayas, the Gokyo Lake. The Gokyo Lake lies to the west of the Everest Base Camp. This adrenaline packed adventurous trek follows the high passes to reach the Cho La pass. After crossing the Cho La Pass, you follow the route through Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, Tyangboche Monastery, Khumjung Village and Namche Bazaar before finally reaching Lukla.

The trek is really among the best ways to learn the mountainous culture and observe the beautiful mountains in the region.

Everest Gokyo & Chola Pass Trekking - Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, yuuki Trek’s representative will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel.   At the hotel you will be briefed about trekking Details.

Day 2:  Kathmandu to Lukla (2840m) by flight (30 minutes), trek to Phakding (2610m) (3 to 4 hours)

Early morning, we take our flight to Lukla. After 40 minutes flight above the beautiful green hills and mountains, we reach Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla. Lukla is famous tourist destination since it is the gateway of Mount Everest base camp. Upon the arrival in Lukla, we take breakfast before starting our trekking. Our trek starts from beautiful Lukla through villages such as Chhiplung (2700m.) and Mushe (2650m.).On the way, one can observe beautiful view of beautiful green hills. Overnight in Phakding.

Day 3: Phakding to Namche (3440m) (6 to 7 hours)

After breakfast, we will continue our trek through pine forest. The trail continues along right bank of Dudh  Koshi  River. There, we get see the first glimpse of Mt. Thamserku (6618 m). We continue the trail with many ups and downs through Bengar and Chumoa before crossing a stream to reach Monjo village. There is a small suspension bridge which is also the entrance gate of the Sagarmatha National Park where we have to deposit a park entrance fee. Our trail continues through Jorsale village, the last village till Namche Bazaar. From there, trek continues until we reach confluence of the Dudh Koshi to the right and Bhote Koshi to the left.  From there, we continue our trek to Namche Bazaar.  On the way, one can enjoy the magnificent views of Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m.). Overnight in Namche bazzar.

Day 4: Namche (Rest day)

After we reach our destination Namche bazaar, we take rest for a day. Namche bazaar is the gateway to the high Himalayas. Namche  is the administrative center of the Khumbu region so there are police check post,a bank, government offices, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants and bakeries.One can view magnificent view of mt Kongde Ri(6,187 m) to west of Namche and  mt Thamserku (6,608m) to the east. Shyangboche Airstrip (3,750m) is situated in a hill over Namche Bazaar. We can walk up to the Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters to enjoy the mouthwatering views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Thamserku, Ama Dablam ,Nuptse,Tawche, Kwangde and other magnificent peaks and visit museum. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 5: Namche to Tengboche (3860m) (5 to 6 hours)

After breakfast, our trail continues to Tengboche enjoying the magnificent view of Ama Dablam (6812m), Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse (7855m) and Tawoche (6501m). We continue our trail through Kayangjuma and Sansa. After crossing prayer Flags Bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, we reach Phunki Thenga. From there, we trek uphill through the pine forests before finally reaching Tengboche. In Tengboche, one can enjoy the Beautiful sunrise view along with the stunning view of the mountains Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. Tengboche Monastery, which is the largest monastry in the Khumbu region, is in Tengboche. Overnight in Tengboche.

Day 6: Tengboche to Dingboche (4410m)(4 to 5 hours)

After Breakfast, our trail continues towards Dingboche descending through the rhododendron forest of Deboche. We enter Imjatse valley Crossing Imja Khola towards Minlinggo with closer view of Mt Ama Dablam. From there, trailing through uphill way will bring us to Dingboche.  Dingboche is also the gateway to Chukung Overnight in Dingboche.

Day 7:  Dingboche to Lobuche (4910m)(6 to 7 hours)

After breakfast, we start the trek through khumbu khola valley to reach Dughla.  After taking lunch, our trail to Lobuche continues through the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glacier.  On the trail, one can observe the magnificent view of mt thamserku, mt Cholatse,mt pumori, mt nuptse and many others. The way of this trail is rugged and uphill. After leaving the Khumbu Glacier behind, We walk up to Lobuche.  Overnight at Lobuche.

Day 8:  Lobuche to Gorakshep (5140m) (3 hours) and (2 to 3 hours to EBC)

After breakfast, our trek to Everest Base camp continues through Gorakshep. On the way, one can enjoy the closer view of   Everest, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Mahalangur, Mt. Lingtern, Mt. Khumbutse, Mt. Nuptse etc. Our trail progress through Khumbu glacier. Upon the arrival in Gorakshep,we take  rest for lunch then our trail continues to Everest Base Camp . Beautiful view of mt Khumbuste and mt Pumori can be observed from Everest Base camp.  After visiting Everest Base camp, we trek back to Gorakshep. Overnight at Gorakshep.

Day 9: Gorakshep to Lobuche (4910m)

Early morning, we hike up to kalapathar for breathtaking sunrise view. It will take about 2 hours to reach view point from gorakshep. Magnificent views of Mt. Everest, mt Nuptse, mt Pumori and mt Ama Dablam can be seen along with the entire Views of Khumbu Himalayan range from kala pathar. After the sunrise view, we hike down to Gorakshep for breakfast. After having breakfast, our trek starts downhill back to Lobuche Overnight at Lobuche.

Day 10: Lobuche to Dzonglha (4830m)

Early morning, we start our trek to Dzonglha following the Lobuche Khola for some distance. After a while, trail goes upward to Dz0ngla. From this route, Both Pheriche and Dhugla are visible. In Dzongla, one can enjoy the beautiful views of mt Lobuche , mt Ama Dablam and mt Cholatse Overnight at Dzonglha.

Day11: Dzonglha to Dragnag (4700m)

After Breakfast, Our trail starts along the path to the tiny village of Dragnag, the base of Cho -La Pass. The village is just below a small cliff. The Dragnag khola flows below the valley. We continue our trail looking at the views of the fine mountains and natural beauty. This trail is the toughest one compared to other days on the trip because of the rocks glazed by ice. Overnight at Dragnag.

Day12: Dragnag to Gokyo (4790m)

From Dragnag, our trail continues to Gokyo crossing the Southern end of the Ngozumpa Glacier. Upon the arrival, lunch break and excursion around the Gokyo valley exploring the surroundings. Gokyo village is situated alongside the Dudh pokhari. Overnight in Gokyo.

Day13: Gokyo –Gokyo  ri to Dole (4200m)

Early morning, we Hike up to the top of Gokyo Ri [5340m].From Gokyo Ri, breathtaking view of the whole Khumbu Himalaya range can be observed which includes View of Cho you (8,153m), Gyachung Kang (7,922m), Everest (8848m), and Lhotse (8,501m) along with peaks of Cholatse and Tawach on south. One can also enjoy the View of the Ngozumpa   glacier, the biggest glacier of Nepal. In Gokyo, you can enjoy also enjoy the view of beautiful lakes like Longpongo, aboche Tsho , Dudh Pokhari. After visiting Gokyo, we trek down trek down to Dole through Machhermo.

Day14: Dhole to Namche

We continue our trek through the beautiful rhododendron forests, then we reach Phortse Thanga. We walk up through slope to the Monglo. Along with Dudh Koshi ,  we trek down to Khumjung. Finally, after up way from khumjung, we reach the Namche valley. Magnificent views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru can be observed from Namche bazaar. Overnight in Namche bazzar.

Day 15: Namche to Phakding(3 to 4 hours)

Early morning, our trek continues downhill back to phakding through the same trail. The trail continues through the confluence of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi to Sagarmatha National Park exit before reaching Monjo village. From there, trail is mostly flat until we reach phakding.  Overnight in phakding.

Day 16: Phakding to lukla

After breakfast, our trek to Lukla continues crossing village of Ghat. On the way; one can enjoy beautiful views of green hills and mountains.  After our arrival in Lukla, we will take rest and then visit the village.  Overnight in lukla.

Day 17: Lukla to Kathmandu by flight

Early morning, we fly back to Kathmandu. After we arrive in Kathmandu, yuuki’s representatives will escort you to hotel. Rest and relax for the remaining day.

Day 18: Final Departure from Kathmandu

yuuki’s   representatives will transfer to international airport for your final departure.
