At an altitude of 2713 meters, Jomsom lies in the upper Kali Gandaki valley and is also known as Dzongsam or New Fort. The surreal views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains observed from Jomsom will enchant anyone. Jomsom is not only a trekking destination but also a place of religious importance for both Hindus and Buddhists. The Jomsom Muktinath situated in the area is a center of belief for Hindus and Buddhist devotees alike.
The magnificent views of the mountains and the scenery encountered along the way are worth recollecting. The route crosses past the other side of the Himalayan range to offer beautiful views of the northern flanks. This skyline trek is famous not only for the terrain of Mustang but also for the Muktinath temple.
You can also go bird watching in the Ghasa village or literally plunge in the Hot Water Springs called Tatopani. The Poon Hill sun rise, Marpha Apple Farm, Kagbeni etc. are some other attractions of Jomsom Muktinath Trek.
Jomsom Muktinath Trekking - Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, Yuuki Trek’s representative will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. At the hotel you will be briefed about your daily activities.
Rest of the day, you can take rest and relax.
Day 2: Kathmandu to Pokhara(By bus)(5 to 6 hours)
Early morning, Yuuki’s Trekking staff will Transfer you to tourist bus station. Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (1070m) by bus/car. On the way to Pokhara, one can enjoy the local fish in Malekhu after 2 hours of drive along with beautiful scenery of villages, mountains, green forest and Trisuli River. Pokhara is popular as city of lakes and regarded as travel destination of Nepal with full of natural beauty. One can enjoy the spectacular view of Machhapuchhare, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri from Pokhara. Phewa Taal (lake),David’s falls, Gupteswor Mahadev(lord Shiva) and many more Hindu’s temples, Buddhist monasteries can be seen in Pokhara.

Day 3: Drive to Nayapul & hike to Hille via Birethanti
Early next morning, after the breakfast at 7:30 am we departure from Pokhara .It takes around 1 hour to reach Nayapaul. Trekking starts from Nayapul (St. Point) alongside Modi Khola River through Birethanti, a large village that has many shops & tea houses. The trail continues through left bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. From there, the trail takes the uphill way to Hille exploring the natural beauty of Annapurna region.

Day 4: Trek to Ghorepani via Ulleri (2876m)
After having breakfast, Hiking continues towards Ghorepani through uphill way with stone steps (about 3300 steps)) until we reach Ulleri. Ulleri is small Magar village with hotels and lodges. Hiking through dense forest of rhododendron, oak trees uphill from Ulleri leads you to the village of Ghorepani. In Ghorepani, one can experience the majestic views of chipping birds, rhododendron forest, beautiful Gurung villages, and many more.

Day 5: Trek Poonhill(3210m) to Tatopani (1190m)
Early morning, About 1 hour of Hiking from Ghorepani bring you to Poonhill (3210m).
Breathtaking view of sun rise along with view of Dhaulagiri, Himchuli, South Annapurna, Gangapurna, Macchapuchre and Annapurna range can be enjoyed from Poonhill.
After observing sunrise view, we return back to same hotel at Ghorepani( 2775m) .
After breakfast, trek to Tatopani continues descending steeply to Chitre at 2390m.
As the trail continues downhill through Sikha a large village, you take further steep descent of 500m to Ghar Khola Village.
After crossing the Kali Gandaki, its short uphill way leads to Tatopani.
Tatopani(hot water) derives its name from hot springs near the river below the village.

Day 6: Trek to Ghasa (2010m)
The trail continues up through Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world.
Our Trail rises gently up to Dana and further up to Rupse Chhahara (beautiful waterfall) where one can view beautiful waterfall. From there, the trail continues through Kopchepani to reach Ghasa. Ghasa is a Thakali village where you can experience the lifestyle of local Thakali peoples.One can also view the Tibetan style houses.

Day 7: Trek to Tukuche (2590m)
After breakfast, Trekking up through forest leads you to Lete Khola then to Lete.
It further continues to the east side of the Kaligandaki until we reach Larjung Village (2560m).
From Larjung, trail continues through the interesting village of Khobang to reach Tukuche.
Tukuche is a Thakali village in the upper Kali Gandaki valley with Annapurna Himal on one side and Dhaulagiri Himal on the other. We also can see a wine-brandy distillery and the orange trees in Tukuche village. Tukuche is the cultural center of the region.

Day 8: Trek to Jomsom (2720m)
After Tukuche, the trail continues up the Kali Gandaki through Marpha village.
On the way to Marpha(2665m),one can observe the view of apple farm projects which produces apple and vegetables along with Tibetan refuge Settlement & then a horticulture research station. After a lunch in Marpha, trekking towards Jomsom continues experiencing the changing landscape.
Jomsom is an administrative and commercial center of the region with the airport, Army camp, &numerous hotels, shops, banks & government offices available there.

Day 9: Trek to Muktinath (3760m)
After crossing Jomsom, it is very windy in the afternoon.
After breakfast, Trekking continues along the Kali Gandaki river then after crossing the river we can reach Eklai Bhatti(2730m). There are many places worth watching on the way to Muktinath. After crossing small ridge to Chhancha Lhumba (2730m), our trail continues to Kagbeni (2810m). From there, we start uphill way above Jhong Khola valley leading us to Khingar (3200 meters).On trekking onwards, we enter Jarkot Village (3500 meters). From here, Walking upward trail leads you to Muktinath. Muktinath is one of the holiest places of pilgrimage of Buddhists, Hindus and Vaishnavas. It is surrounded by 108 waterspouts. One can also enjoy the magnificent view of Dhaulagiri peak.

Day 10: Trek to Marpha
After taking breakfast and Visiting Muktinath temple, we descend steeply down from Muktinath to Marpha village through Kagbeni and Jomsom. On the way, many small handicrafts shops can be seen on the roadside. Marpha is a large Thakali village which is famous among the tourists. The main inhabitants of this village are Thakalis. Marpha brandy, local wine produced from local fruits is famous all over the country.

Day 11: Trek to Kalopani (2530m)
From Marpha, Trekking back down to Kalopani continues through the beautiful Thakali village Tukuche village and then Larjung. Kalopani is situated nearly between the DHaulagiri and Annapurna. From Kalopani, one can see great sunsets and sunrises.

Day 12: Trek to Tatopani (1190m)
After Breakfast, Same trail continues to Tatopani.
One should cross an ethnic Thakali village Ghasa and then passing through Kali gandaki valley to reach Tatopani. One can enjoy the beautiful views of hills on the way to Tatopani.

Day 13: Tatopani (Rest Day)
After the continuous trekking of 12 days, we will take rest in Tatopani.
In Tatopani, There is natural hot water springs for your refreshment. One can also enjoy the delicious foods, shops, even book shops in the village for a rest day.

Day 14: Tatopani to Beni (830m)
From Tatopani, Trail continues to Beni walking on the street. After – hour of walking, one can reach Beni. Beni is a small town situated in the confluence of Kali River and Myagdi River. Beni is the center of this region.

Day 15: Beni to Pokhara by bus
Early morning, a local bus will drive us to Pokhara after 3 hours of driving.
Upon the arrival in Pokhara, you will be free for sightseeing.

Day 16: Pokhara to Kathmandu (6 to 7 hours)
Early morning, you trekking guide will transfer to Pokhara tourist bus station. Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus. Upon the arrival on Kathmandu, Yuuki’s representatives will transfer you to the hotel.
Day 17: Final departure from Kathmandu (1345m)
Yuuki’s representatives will transfer to international airport for your final departure.
