One of the most popular trekking in Nepal, Mustang is also referred to as a desert in the mountain.The terrain and the barren landscape combined with the astonishing view of the Himalayas is a great feast for anyone. The Upper Mustang is also called “the last forbidden kingdom of Nepal”. Mustang Trek gives you a first-hand experience of hospitality offered by the people living in this region.
Very few permits are issued by the department of immigration since 1991. This places has a large number of Buddhists and visits to the monasteries here are very rewarding. Mustang is influenced by Tibetan culture. Steep rocky trails and barren landscapes are the characteristic features of Mustang.Strong winds generally howl across the area in the afternoon, generally subsiding at night. Being in the rain shadow of the Himalaya, Mustang has much less rain then the rest of Nepal.
Mustang Trek begins at Jomsom. You can either fly over to Jomsom or take a ride from Besisahar. Beautiful panoramic views of Nilgiri Himala, Annapurna Himal and Dhaulagiri Himal and a couple of other mountains are the main attractions of the this trek. The temple of Muktinath in Mustang is one of the greatest religious heritages for both Hindus and Buddhists.
Upper Mustang Trekking - Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu.
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, yuuki Trek’s representative will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. At the hotel you will be briefed about your daily activities.
Rest of the day, you can take rest and relax.
Day 2: Kathmandu to Pokhara(By bus)(5 to 6 hours).
Early morning, Yuuki’s Trekking staff will Transfer you to tourist bus station. Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (1070m) by bus/car. On the way to Pokhara, one can enjoy the local fish in Malekhu after 2 hours of drive along with beautiful scenery of villages, mountains, green forest and Trisuli River. Pokhara is popular as city of lakes and regarded as travel destination of Nepal with full of natural beauty. One can enjoy the spectacular view of Machhapuchhare, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri from pokhara. phewa Taal (lake),David’s falls, Gupteswor mahadev(lord shiva) and many more Hindu’s temples, Buddhist monasteries can be seen in pokhara.

Day 03: Fly to Jomsom and trek to Kagbeni.
Early morning, Transfer to Airport for an early flight to Jomsom. After 25 minutes of flight between the mountains with the view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, you reach Jomsom. Jomsom is an administrative and commercial center of the region with the airport, Army camp, &numerous hotels, shops, banks & government offices available there. From here, Trekking continues along the kali Gandaki river then after crossing the river we can reach Eklai Bhatti(2730m).There are many places worth watching on the way .After crossing small ridge to Chhancha Lhumba (2730m), our trail continues to Kagbeni (2810m) situated at the bank of two Rivers Kak Khola and Mustang Khola

Day 04: Trek to chhusang
From Kagbeni, we enter the Upper Mustang restricted region through the permit check post. The trail progresses alongside Kaligandaki River. After passing through the ups and down, we reach Tangbe, a beautiful village with white colored houses We can also see the buckwheat, barley, wheat and apple farms around the village. From Tangbe, trek continues to Chussang.

Day 05: Trek to Bhena
From Chussang , our trek continues after crossing the river, then climbing north up the trail to a huge red chunk of conglomerate that has fallen from the cliff through which the kaligandaki River flows. From here, the trail goes steeply upward leaving kaligandaki valley behind to Village of chele. From here, the trail continues towards Taklam La Pass (3,624m) via Eklo bhatti. From the pass, descending through chortens on a ridge brings you to the village of Samar. We reach Bhena after walking through small streams and forest from Samar.

Day 06: Trek to Ghaymi
Early morning, the trek starts walking up hills and down hills to reach Syanbochen. We take uphill way from Syanbochen to Yamda La (3850m) through small villages, chortens and tea houses. From here, the trail takes uphill way to Nyi Pass (4,010m) and the finally descending to Ghami. Ghami is the third largest village in the area from where view of mountains can be enjoyed.

Day 07: Trek to Charang
Early morning, after crossing the ghaymi khola, the trail goes upward passing through very long mani wall made by Buddhist followers. From here, the trail descends towards the village of Charang. Charang is a beautiful village with corn fields and the houses separated by stone walls. There is a huge five story white dzong, red Gompa and a five-storey monastery fortress in this village. Overnight in Charang.
Day 08: Trek to Lomanthang
Early morning, we descend towards charang chu and then continue to climb steeply through rocky trail after crossing the river. On the trail, one can enjoy the breathtaking view of mt Nilgiri, mt Tilicho and mt Annapurna I .The trail progresses as we reach a ridge(3850m) from where we can see the LoManthang valley. After descending for some time to cross a river, we climb up towards the LoManthang.

Day09: Lomanthang (Rest Day)
Today, we explore the Lomantheng area as it is our last destination. We visit Namgyal Gompa and valley of Tingkhar. You can also visit Kimling, Phuwa, tall Champa Lakhang “God house” the red Thugchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and the Entrance Hall in this city. One can also enjoy magnificent views of mountains.

Day 10: Trek to Ghar Gompa
Early morning, our trek starts towards the ancient Ghar gompa which is more than 1200 years old and we can meet Guru Rinpoche in the Gompa. According legends, This Gompa with rock painting is believed as a place where one’s wish is fulfilled. One can also explore the surrounding of Ghar Gumpa.

Day 11: Trek to Syangboche
From Ghar Gompa, Trek starts towards syangbocheg descending until we reach Ghilling. The trail is clear and slopy. From Ghilling, we take uphill way through Ghami to reach Syangboche.
Day 12: Trek to Kagbeni
Early morning, the trek starts descending down from syangboche to arrive at a stream. From there, crossing junipers trees and streams we take uphill way then descend to reach Samar .After crossing Taklam La Pass and eklo bhatti from Samar, we reach Chele. From chele, the trek continues through huge red chunk of conglomerate fallen from the cliff and beautiful village of Tangbe crossing many ups and downs to reach Kagbeni.
Overnight in Kagbeni.
Day 13: Trek to Jomsom
After breakfast, the trail continues to Jomsom alongside the Kaligandaki River Bank leaving the upper mustang. The trail is easy and flat as we return through the same trail to Jomsom.

Day 14: Fly Back to Pokhara
Early morning we take an early flight to Pokhara. After 25 minutes of flight between the mountains with the view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, you reach Pokhara. Upon the arrival in pokhara, you can rest and explore the pokhara.
Day 15: Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus. Approx. driving 6 to 7 hours,
Early morning, transfer to Pokhara tourist bus station and drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus. Upon the arrival on Kathmandu, yuuki’s representatives will transfer you to the hotel.
Day 16: Free day in Kathmandu
After Breakfast, Explore Culture tour in Kathmandu, that is includes Boudhanath Stupa perhaps biggest in worlds, Monastery, Pashupatinath Temple, Hindu’s holiest temple and Patan Durbar Square and Swoyambunath Stupa situated on hillock of Kathmandu from entire Kathmandu Visible and amazing Stupa with its beautiful arts.
Day 17: Final departure from Kathmandu (1345m)
yuuki’s representives will transfer to international airport for your final departure.
